Combination of Tradition and Innovation as the Key to Professional Success: To the Memory of Ephim L. Shuvalov

Abstract: A brief description of scientific research and professional pedagogical activity of E. L. Shuvalov — the well-known geographer, teacher and organizer of pedagogical education, Rector of the Sverdlovsk State Pedagogical Institute (nowadays the Ural State Pedagogical University) is given. The leading principle of professional work of the scientist — a combination of the traditional approach and the innovations, defined as one of the methodological basis of steady and productive development of the system of education — is analyzed.
