Abstract: The article reviews the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Current Problems of Learning and Teaching a Language at School and University” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of F.I. Buslayev, which was held at the Ural State Pedagogical University (May 24-26, 2018, Ekaterinburg). During the conference its participants discussed the following theoretical and methodological questions in the field of Philology: teaching Russian in multicultural environment (Russian as a non-native or a foreign language); teaching a language and literature with the help of new technologies; traditions and innovations in linguistic education. More than 50 people took part in the conference. Besides there were advanced training courses in the frames of this conference. The courses “Methods of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language” included scientific projects, master-classes, round tables and papers covering the problems of teaching Russian. The courses were organized on the basis of the Centre for Russin Language and Culture Promotion of the USPU with the help of Department of Intercultural Communication, Rhetoric and Russian as a Foreign Language.
