Abstract: The article describes the algorithm of defining the criteria for the evaluating innovations. The A. V. Hutorskoy’s typology of pedagogical innovations is the basis of the algorithm being examined. As pedagogical processes have a non-parametric character, we suggest using well-known method of ranks, which gives expert evaluation. As a result we will be able to define the degree to which a pedagogical innovation can be considered new.
