Abstract: The authors depict the problem of vocational guidance of youth in the context of the competence building approach. They call the readers' attention to the worldwide changes in evaluating the results of the general education and offer to fetch out among the students' competencies those which are important to project their future after schooling. Besides, they consider the possible approaches to the evaluation of the maturity of these competencies.
