Abstract: The article discloses criteria and functional content of professional identity of teachers of higher school, that make it possible to consider socio-psychological adaptation of a person as a function, that reveals itself in keeping up the constitutive role of «I» image and as the criterion, that is realized through the level of its integration and correlation of content characteristics.
