Abstract: The article focuses on the process of children‘s acquisition of personal pronouns as the first (―speech‖) stage of personal deixis acquisition. A sequence of personal deixis acquisition stages is revealed on the basis of spontaneous child language and experimental data, and is traced from the stage of non-understanding of deictic elements, then to ―egocentric‖ understanding, and finally to understanding and use of deictic elements, that corresponds to normative language usage.
