Abstract: The problem of the development of the graphic competence of students — prospective technical specialist is raised the article. On the basis of the study the project method is considered as the optimal condition for this process. The author tries to reveal the principles of organization of the students‘ project activity and to give its characteristics from the point of view of the competence approach.
