Abstract: The necessity and possibility of introducing a course of elementary mathematics for students of non-mathematical specialties in a pedagogical university is discussed in the article. The aim of the course is the improvement and development of the mathematical apparatus and formation of a natural science picture of the world. Basing on the experience of course teaching, the peculiarities of the content are described and the topics of lectures and workshops are given. The implementation of the course through the learning portal of Ural State Pedagogical University is suggested.
