Abstract: The article considers the questions of early child's development in the process of family economic education in the light of competency approach. Some general competencies, namely an instrumental one, are demonstrated in the text. The instrumental competency has communicative, informational, and intellectual aspects. The author provides a technology for developing the competencies by means of promoting economic education and thinking. Age, psychological features, family relationship and nontraditional family experience are also taken into consideration. In conclusion, the author puts forward an idea of creating a system for teaching and consulting parents on the issues of economic education.
