Abstract: In the context of dynamic socio-economic development of the Russian society, which is in need of active free-thinking young people showing their initiative, the issue of young people’s leadership remains essential. Along with all the other necessary qualities of a future professional, socialized in society, social leadership is a priority for the free development of a personality, capable of self-realization and self-development. Each new period in the study of the leadership concept is related to the previous experience and theoretical considerations in the research sphere of the ability of a young person to perform certain activity, the ability to take responsibility for the transformation of the environment, to improve their knowledge and make the right decisions. From this point of view it is necessary to analyze the structural components of this concept. That could help distinguishing special aspects of social leadership and relate them with one another. On the basis of the theoretical principles, one could also consider social leadership as a social position of the individual in society in general or in a group of people endowed with the ability to direct and organize the group activities in accordance with the target settings and values of the group and with the consideration of situational apperception of the social environment conditions.
