Abstract: The article deals with the notion of youth extremism and the problems of its prevention in modern Russian schools. The problems are identified on the basis of prevention of extremism programs analysis in educational institutions of Sverdlovsk Region. Three problems are marked as key ones: occasional character of prevention measures, narrowing of the notion of extremism to nationalistic extremism as a specific kind of extremist activity and narrowing of the object of prevention measures. The article studies the teacher’s speech, which shows that it is the speech of the teacher that can become an effective tool of extremist activity. As a practical recommendation, the author suggests the sphere of preventive activity be further spread, in particular upon diagnostic research of teachers’ and parents’ motivation to anti-extremist activity.
