Abstract: The formation of reading culture is an important component of psychological and intellectual growth of the child. What is more, it is a process creating conditions for the establishment of a positive atmosphere of creative collaboration in the family. Today, there is a contradiction between the rapidly growing home literature for children and its underestimation by adults, who form the range of children's reading. One of the reasons for this discrepancy, according to the author, is the lack of attention of adults to the artistic aspect of children's books. The ethical content is presented by writers in a specific conventional form and games. The article analyzes recently published books of poems, fundamentally heterogeneous in aesthetic and stylistic beliefs of their authors. Different types of children's books have been chosen: reissue of a forgotten poet (M. Moravskaya), game project of an adult author (Umka), as well as a book for kids (Yasnov). It is concluded that modern children's books of poetry have two addressees (they unite children and adults in the process of reading) and are multifunctional: they entertain, teach, broaden the scope of interests and develop imagination, as well as create a picture of the modern society and its culture.
