Abstract: A number of requirements prescribed in the professional standard for teacher, adopted in 2013, entail amendments in training of future teachers of mathematics in terms of organizing and conducting extracurricular activities of pupils in the subject area "Mathematics". The article highlights the professional skills of the future mathematics teacher, which would ensure the graduates’ compliance with professional standards. The formation of the necessary skills, which are distributed in three blocks (executive, organizational, creative), is achieved in the course of practice-oriented activity of students, which consists first in participation and then in planning and conduct of extracurricular activities in mathematics. In order to provide students with sufficient experience in the selected areas, it is recommended to use a specially designed bank of educational tasks for planning and conduct of extracurricular activities with pupils of grades 5-11. The article singles out the criteria and levels of formation of professional skills of students in the selected area. As a result, the authors present a model of professional skills of the future mathematics teacher in organization of extracurricular activities of pupils.
