Abstract: The article deals with the development of interpreter‘s discursive competence in the situation of excursion. It analyzes the situation of excursion – presents its components and describes the specific features of verbal and non-verbal behavior of a guide and an interpreter in this situation. The article postulates an interdisciplinary approach to the development of this competence, provides a working definition of the competence of an interpreter and presents a system of methods of its formation. In the framework of the course ―Russian Language and Speech Culture‖, students master the text categories of cohesion and integrity of a text of excursion. At the lessons of ―Practical Phonetics and Voice Culture of the First Foreign Language‖, students acquire the skills of the guide‘s voice culture in a foreign language. The aim of the course of ―Culture of Non-verbal Behavior in the First Foreign Language‖ consists in mastering non-verbal means of communication in the given situation and the accompanying course of ―First Foreign Language Interpretation‖ is aimed at the formation of the discursive competence of an interpreter in the situation of excursion.
