Abstract: A number of changes in education lead to the changes in the approaches to the development of all components of the system, particularly in the development of educational potential. The most effective methods of learning and development are interactive methods that encourage teachers to develop all potential resources. The article substantiates the necessity to introduce active teaching methods in a higher educational establishment, defines the notions of pedagogic innovations and active teaching methods. In general, interactive method of teaching is a special form of organization of cognitive and communicative activity in which all participants are involved in the process of education, they are able to understand and reflect on what they know and think. The principal difference between interactive and classic exercises is that in the course of work with them the emphasis is not on the revision of the previous information, but on the introduction of the new facts. The article enumerates subjective and objective factors impeding the introduction of active teaching methods in a higher educational institution.
