Abstract: The author of the article gives an overview of several conferences which were held at the Ural State Pedagogical University and the Ural Federal University. Among them were an Interdisciplinary conference “I choose Science!” and philological conferences “LITTERA TERRA: problems of Russian and foreign literature” and “Foreign literature: contextual and intertextual communications”. In more detail, the author of the article analyzes the materials of the scientific-practical conference devoted to the memory of Professor V. M. Paverman. The article considers the materials of “The II Paverman readings. Literature. Music. Theater” consisting of the following sections: "Music in literature"; “Poetics of Intermediality”; “Problems of Analysis and Interpretation of Fiction Text”; “Techniques of Teaching Foreign Literature in Secondary School and University”. The methods aspect is illustrated in the article by the example of a special technique of studying “The French Lieutenant’s Woman” by J. Fowles. The interaction between music and literature is presented by an article about M. Proust’s creative work. Intercultural ties between English and Russian literature is considered in a comparative analysis of W. Collins’ “The Moonstone” and F. M. Dostoevsky’s “The Karamazov Brothers”.
