Abstract: The article touches upon the questions of teaching listening comprehension on the basis of a movie at the lessons of Russian as a foreign language. The authors focus on the complex of tasks that can be set to foreign students when they watch the movie “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” directed by E. Ryazanov: many and various examples of warm-up and follow-up tasks aimed at improving the students’ speaking skills, expanding their active vocabulary and teaching them to use new words in real-life situations are given. The model of teaching students of different levels of language proficiency (from А2-В1 to C2) is demonstrated. The main aim of the article is to formulate practical recommendations on teaching foreign students listening comprehension through in-class or out-of class activities. While writing this article, the authors analyzed many methods works on teaching Russian as a foreign language and took them as a theoretical basis; while designing the complex of tasks, they used such methods as modeling of the teaching-learning process, predicting difficulties in learning, assessing listening skills on the material of a movie. The authors conclude that the use of video materials at the lessons of Russian as a foreign language does not only help the students to improve their listening comprehension skills but also enables them to practice their speaking skills. The given material that contains practical recommendations on teaching oral communication and motivating the students to learn is meant for teachers of Russian as a foreign language.
