Development of Engineering Thinking of Students in the Course of Training

Abstract: The questions of formation of engineering thinking of students on the basis of the principles of continuity and double-subjectivity are considered. The main reasons for the lack of engineers in our country and peculiarities of training of engineers in contemporary Russia are specified. Blum's taxonomy for identification of primary activities of the modern engineer and the sequence of development of engineering thinking of children beginning with kindergarten and up to high school are presented. The purposes, the content of training materials and kinds of activity for each age group are considered; the means for assessment of the level of engineering thinking of pupils are offered. Psychological features of engineering thinking formation are noted. The main problems that arise in the course of engineering thinking development of pupils in the educational organizations are defined.
