Abstract: The effectiveness of the process of development of all the skills, including universal cognitive learning activities, depends on the organization of the system of evaluation of the real level of formation of the skills formed in the process of training. The development of accurate diagnostics techniques of formation of universal cognitive learning activities of pupils is the topical problem of today. The article suggests one way to solve this problem. Educational results are presented in the form to be diagnosed – for each activity the authors assigned its functional composition. The templates of diagnostic tasks are developed: template is a universal constructor, intended to fill the content of any academic subject. The necessity of current and final diagnostics is proved. The technique of organization of the current diagnostics, based on mapping of the universal cognitive learning activities of each student and building individual correction routes is offered. We distinguish four levels of formation of universal cognitive learning activities of pupils (higher, medium, low, zero). The requirements for diagnostic materials are presented: comprehensiveness (the inclusion of tasks to check the operation of formation of each specific training action), variability content (tasks should be developed on all the topics of the course), pointedness (diagnostics is performed to check formation of a certain cognitive skill). The article presents the structure of the diagnostic materials. The experience of implementing of this technique in the educational process of school has confirmed the accuracy of the results of diagnostics of universal cognitive learning activities.
