Political Creolized Text as a Means of Discredit Strategy of Educational Reform and Reformers in American Media Discourse

Abstract: The article focuses on the non-verbal means of discredit strategy of educational reform and its main figures in American Mass Media. The research is based on the media publications devoted to the education reform and reformers in 2012-2015. The provided results confirm the hypothesis about the importance of the study of political creolized texts in discredit strategy implementation. The main conclusions of the research are: depersonification of the main figure of American education reform; the key targetspheres of political cartoons and illustrations include: degradation of pupils and decrease of literacy; standardized testing as a method of assessment; the actions and speech of the reformers; crime, lack of discipline in schools; commercialization of public education; educational inequality; the loss of teacher authority. Political creolized texts devoted to US officials and education reform are characterized by a rather small degree of expression and the presence of concrete directions and possible solutions of the existing problems, or abstract comments about the need for a change. The prospects of this research can be connected with comparison of verbal and non-verbal means of discredit strategy of educational reform and its main figures in different countries and languages.
