Managers and methodologists of vocational educational institutions were acting as experts who evaluated preparedness of the educators to performing professional tasks according to key criteria developed by us. The study showed that the educators having experience of work at a factory, but no pedagogical education had significant difficulties in performing tasks of upbringing. The activities related to personality self-actualization, individual approach and the means of pedagogical diagnostics were especially difficult.
