Abstract: Modern culture is characterized by diversity and apparent variety of forms and strategies of behavior, divergence between personal and social aspirations, and a variety of choices. It is believed that contemporary socio-cultural values give rise to pedagogical problems and difficulties. In education formation of the sustainable value framework is of special significance: a person is not born with the given values and norms of behavior, they are not inherited at the level of genetics, but acquired in the process of social communication and adaptation to a culture. Realizing that there are different views on what should be done, contributing to the diversity of life choices and determining behavior, education aims at the formation of value-normative framework. Patriotism is one of the key values of personality, which is regarded as an active ability to convert feelings into necessary for the Fatherland deeds and actions. A modern interpretation of the concept "patriotism" is closely connected with the understanding of Civil-Patriotic education. Civil-Patriotic education is described from the point of view of its value, activity and procedure. Today the work on Civil-Patriotic education of students is conducted in the following areas: spiritual, moral, cultural-historical, including the regional and cultural component, civil, military-patriotic. The article briefly describes each of them. The basis of formation of spiritual-moral and civil-patriotic education advocates cultural identity, which is based on the generated image of the personal "I". Significant pedagogical mission is the formation of cultural identity, based on the values of patriotism. The article reveals the peculiarities of formation of cultural identity in education.
