Methodic Competency of Foreign Language Teachers in the System of Medical Education

Abstract: The development of the methodic competency of foreign language teachers at the medical school is one of the major objectives in the system of higher education. The aim of our research was specifying the notion of the methodic competency of a foreign language teacher in the medical university. The methodological basis of the research was a theoretical literature analysis to determine the key concepts on the topic of the present study. We specified that the methodic competency of a foreign language teacher at the medical university includes motivation and value component, cognitive component, operation and activity component, and evaluation and result component. The development of the methodic competency of foreign language teachers in professional education at the medical school requires introduction of effective methods of teaching using innovative and interactive forms. The problem of development of the methodic competency of medical teachers and effective methodological work at the medical school can be solved by the establishment of science and methodic teaching centers at the medical school, creation of system of training of teachers-methodologists at the departments, dean’s offices and institutions.
