Abstract: A review of the monograph by G. G. Gorelova, G. V. Manuilov, E.L. Soldatova “Personality in social management” (Chelyabinsk: SUSU Publishing House, 2018. — 180 pp.). The article reveals specific features of the methodology on which the monograph is based — the anthropo-centered approach which is characterized by placing the person in the center when building various plans and projects under the conditions of social management. The category of personality, used by the authors in its modern interpretation, laying emphasis on semantic, motivational and demand-related characteristics, is chosen as the backbone concept. It is emphasized that the specific feature of the monograph, which determines its novelty and theoretical significance, is the dual representation of the personality: as an object that requires penetration into its deep essence to establish contact with it, and as a subject, which comes into contact with the "human factor" and stimulates it via this personality. It is noted that the theoretical conclusions are confirmed by empirical studies conducted by the authors in various educational and organizational systems. The article highlights the conditions and technologies of student-centered social management. It is concluded that the monograph under review is of certain theoretical and practical interest for undergraduates, graduate students, researchers, teachers and specialists in the field of social management.
