Prospects of the German Dual System of Education in the Situation of Globalization

Abstract: The urgency of the problem is substantiated by the need to study the German dual system of education to determine the possibilities of its borrowing by other countries in the context of globalization of educational space. The aim of the article is to study the prospects of the German dual system development on the basis of analysis of contemporary English and German language sources and expert assessments. The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of foreign-language scientific papers, including the author's observations as a participant of the BIBB Congress in Berlin “VET of tomorrow — experience innovations”, as well as experts’ survey with the help of open-ended and closed-ended questions, supplemented by the method of content analysis of materials. The article summarizes the experience of implementation of the German dual system of education and systematizes its development prospects in the context of globalization in the field of improvement of legislative and economic mechanisms, transition to early career guidance, correction of organizational and methodological support, and orientation towards new professions and competences. The materials of the article can be useful to the German system of professional education for the formation of response mechanisms to global changes. They can be also used in relation to the systems of professional education of other countries trying to borrow the German experience of dual education to understand the conditions for effective functioning of a similar educational model.
