Abstract: The article discusses the possibility of modernization of teaching process in medical schools with the help of information technology. Information competence must be attributed to professional competence for the development of e-health. Formation of information competence is limited to the federal state educational standard, as well as the professional standard. However, the qualification requirements for the competencies and labor skills of the future physician do not have specific tips for training medical students in the field of information technology and do not reflect the functions of medical informatics. The lack of requirements for the training of medical professionals affects the quality of training of doctors in the field of information technology. The authors, based on the analysis of the content of applied programs, projects of programs, forms and technologies in medical informatics, identify the invariable part of the curriculum, which is able to ensure the formation of information competence of future doctors. The level of development of information competence is directly related to the possibility of using modern technologies, forms, types of training, and monitoring results, which are directly dependent on the educational environment of the university. To develop the skills of information technologies, it is necessary to create a holistic, continuous system of multistage professional training of medical specialists. One of the methods of teaching medical students to use modern information technologies is proposed.
