Abstract: The article deals with the importance of introduction of the principles of scientific research activity at the lessons of foreign languages. These samples are based on the use of the principles of integrating the majority of school subjects. The article describes the experience of working with high school students based on the teaching methods used at the state school “Gloria”. It deals with the organization of extra-curricular research activity for high school students in the area “The German language”. The structure and the contents of the learning process are shown in detail, so that it is possible to reveal the existing problems and to find the necessary solution. The method described in the article has a practical value and originality as according to the author’s point of view, one of the crucial drawbacks of the methodology of the German language is the lack of recommendations and practical application, which creates obstacles on the way of successful realization of teaching methods. The author underlines the idea that research work serves not only as a means of self-development but also as one of the ways to help students choose the most suitable occupation. Тhe article focuses on the development of methods of research activity at the lessons of the German language and as a type of extra-curricular activity. Research activity is estimated as a universal way of investigation of the rules of modern society which leads to the growing interest in the learning process. The article underlines the importance of research activity for teenagers who are making the first progress in various sciences, such a kind of activity turns teenagers into real discoverers and prevents from being inactive. Furthermore, the author speaks about the importance of this method for further education at universities and for practicing a profession. Research activity largely contributes to the following aspects: it helps to search, explain and prove facts, phenomena and processes that are supervised and scientifically analyzed, when scientific cognitive methods are prevailingly. Furthermore, research activity makes a great contribution into the learning process, as it develops research skills and abilities. The author focuses on the idea, that research activity is considered to be an integral part of modern system of education, which not only facilitates cognitive motivation, but also broadens skills and knowledge, creates necessary pre-requisites for the development of students’ abilities.
