Abstract: Special role in the socio-economic development of any country belongs to the educational system. Demands from the society determine the requirements for the personality and activities of a specialist. Teaching profession belongs to one of the most difficult types of human activities. A teacher is confronted with completely unexpected and sometimes unusual problems, the solution of which is difficult and impossible to plan in advance. Pedagogical education is a professional education, the task of which is to prepare not only a school teacher who gives knowledge on a particular subject, but also a teacher in the broad sense of the word, who cares about the diverse development and education of the younger generation. Modern normative documents of the national education, including school education, define the range of requirements to the level of professional training of teachers, an important component of which is the methodological component. Academic training as an element of pedagogical education includes a set of knowledge, skills and abilities of a specialist to implement effective professional activity in an educational organization, taking into account the contemporary requirements of the state, society, as well as the needs and opportunities of the student. The author has defined the relevance and value of methodological training of a teacher, has characterized a modern state and the main problems of a teacher in the course of teaching students of pedagogical higher education institution to work in a comprehensive school within the subject called "Methods of Teaching in Historical Education" taught at the first stage of the higher pedagogical education of the Ural State Pedagogical University.
