Abstract: The foreign and Russian pedagogical community celebrated the 130th anniversary of the great teacher Anton Makarenko in 2018. The importance of his heritage is indicated by the fact that his name was included in the UNESCO list of four teachers whose legacy determined the course of pedagogical thought of the 20th century. His books are translated into different languages, they continue to be published and studied. This, in turn, indicates the relevance of A. Makarenko’s ideas for solving the problems of modern education. In connection with the anniversary various scientific events, such as conferences, forums, round tables, pedagogical readings, discussion platforms, master classes, competitions, etc. took place throughout Russia. Participants in these events shared their discoveries in history of pedagogy and education; they exchanged experience in using the heritage of A. Makarenko in training and education, in the organization of lesson and after-hour activities, in social and pedagogical support of children and youth experiencing difficulties in socialization. One of the last in series of anniversary events was "The educational system of A. Makarenko in the context of the prospects for the development of modern Russian education" conference, which was held in Moscow on the basis of Institute for Strategy and Development of Education of the Russian Academy of Education on June 18-19, 2018.The goal of the conference was to realize the potential of the educational system of A. Makarenko in the interests of forming positive social activity, citizenship and patriotism of the younger generations of Russian citizens. It was attended by scientists and educational practitioners from foreign countries (Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Norway and France), as well as from various regions of Russia. This article is devoted to the analysis of the results of this conference.
