The Beginning and Further Development of Pedagogic Education In Teachers’ Training College of Columbia University (New York)

Abstract: The purpose of the article is the comprehension of the main ideas in the sphere of education, which were formulated during the historical development of the Teachers’ College at Columbia University (New York). Many modern teachers consider that those ideas could take the main positions in the academic world. Among the ideas there is the preparation of a new type of the teacher. His main functions are to stimulate the activity of the students, to develop their wish for studying and to strive for independent creation. The second idea of the Teachers’ College is the appearance of the system of the teachers’ preparation which has two levels. After graduating from the university the students get Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree.
