Abstract: International research in the quality of reading and text comprehension has shown that Russian primary schoolchildren have medium level of reading skills. The ability to work with a text comprises text perception and reproduction, and creating one’s own monologues. Currently in Primary School work of art text perception is paid attention to, but work with a scientific text for studies is not done although a primary schooler often encounters such texts at lessons of Russian, Reading and Environment.
