Abstract: The content and method of training students of the pedagogical professions to develop pupils’ system of metatechnical knowledge in the learning process in physics (the system of knowledge about the technosphere and the laws of its development) are discussed. Besides, the content of the elective course «Study of Applied Physics in Secondary School» is touched upon. The course is regarded as a component of the program training students in the discipline “Theory and Methodology of Teaching Physics”. The course program is aimed at development of students’ specific professional competencies. These competencies describe the readiness of students to ensuring meta-objective results of teaching pupils.
