Abstract: The article considers the main approaches to the diagnosis of merits of a personality. The author studies several approaches to the study of the merits of the character of a person. The article describes the specific features of the merits identification with the help of VIA classification. The article dwells on the conceptual problems of grouping of personal merits and the factorial assessment of a corresponding questionnaire. The data on the reliability and factor structure of the questionnaire in general and separate scales are represented. The results obtained in the study confirm the advantages of a four-factor model of personal merits.
