Abstract: The style of professional activity of a higher school teacher is an important factor that unites Masters and their Students into the scientific school. The article deals with the experience of development of scientific and pedagogical school in the Dorpat Professorial Institute in the first half of the 19th century. Special attention is paid to the facts of reflection of the style of professional activity of mentor-professors in the experience of their students, which are proven mechanisms of this process.
