Abstract: The article deals with the problem of formation of pragmalinguistics as a science, develops its objectives and problems, its subject and object, and discusses the key notions. It also discusses the problem of formation of general cultural and professional competences during training for Bachelors of Science in Education degree (profile «Foreign Language (French)»), within the framework of the author‘s optional course ―Introduction to Pragmalinguistics‖.
