Ideologic Landmarks of Humanitarian Approach to Russian Education

Abstract: The destiny of the nation is shaped against the background of globalization processes in education and upbringing. The article raises the most urgent question of a reform in Russian educational system and governance. But what ideology should this reform be based on? What is its axiological orientation: liberalism, democracy, or strong state? How is the policy of today connected with education and the Russian language, what is the essence of the ideology of "new planetary thinking", etc.? Focusing on the "mode of thought" and the system of meaning typical of the Russian mentality, the author invites pedagogical community to participate in an open humanitarian debate.
