Social Orientation of Pedagogical Reforms of Catherine the Great

Abstract: The pedagogical works of Catherine II address the issues of training and education having general pedagogical significance for education and upbringing of different groups of children. She identified three important moments in the history of the educational process and established stages of education by age, determined methods and means of education and upbringing, with emphasis on the moral education of the generation. Significant place in the works is given to the relationship between children and their parents, these relations must be based on respect and trust. Pedagogical views of Catherine II had a clear social orientation and were a tool in its social policy.
