Abstract: The article presents the results of a diagnostics study of motivation level as a vital component of personal potential of air traffic controllers at various stages of professional career, as well as of selecting preferred coping strategies by these experts. For this end, the authors use the methods of T. Ellers and S. Hobfoll. The paper reveals the connection between the motivation level and the organization of the process of continuous training. The article argues that the dynamics of motivation, registered in the course of the study, demonstrates the inefficiency of the existing system of continuing training for air traffic controllers in Russia. The authors formulate the proposals to improve the efficiency of this process based on the estimation of the condition of personal potential of specialists in air traffic services, including systematic monitoring of personal potential of air traffic controllers, formation of a favorable socio-professional environment which would ensure self-actualization of specialists, formation of the institution of tutors, improving the normative base to create the conditions for long-term motivation of specialists.
