Abstract: The article discusses the results and perspectives of the International Association of Finno-Ugric universities (IAFUU) within the integrative processes in higher education. IAFUU is an example of successful cooperation between Russian and foreign universities of the Finno-Ugric countries and regions which work jointly on the improvement of educational, didactic, research, cultural, and social activities. Within IAFUU partner universities work to create joint programs and courses, to make possible implementation of research projects and collaboration in training academic and pedagogical staff as well as development of teachers’ and students’ academic mobility. IAFUU initiated a number of projects aimed at improving the quality of education and the development of the Finno-Ugric component in university education (on-line lectures, student’s exchange, etc.). The article emphasizes the special role of members of IAFUU in activities aimed at the preservation and development of the Finno-Ugric languages and cultures through the development of a unified information database on the Finno-Ugric issues and support of educational and research projects focused on the languages, history and culture of the Finno-Ugric peoples.
