Abstract: The article deals with the main features of a new model of practice-oriented training of teachers with regard to the requirements of professional and educational standards. The model was developed in the Herzen University in the framework of the Program of modernization of pedagogical education. The article describes the purpose, content, instrumental and results-based characteristics of the model, which is focused on a set of measurable learning outcomes that meet the requirements of the standard of professional activity of the teacher of preschool education, the requirements of the new Federal State Educational Standard for the preschool education and the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standards for higher education. The model is designed for several categories of students: Applied Baccalaureate students, secondary professional education students, representatives of a number of professions dealing with preschool children (child psychologist, additional education teacher, family tutor, social pedagogue, etc.). The modules of the presented program may be used in master’s degree programs and additional professional education programs (advanced training and retraining). The module principle was used in designing the program. An academic module is treated as a relatively independent unit of the education program aimed at developing a certain group of competences (learning outcomes). The module may be also treated as a method of design of education content of projects of individual and joint activity of teachers and students for achievement of learning outcomes. Students’ works (products of activity) and demonstration of the learning outcomes in practical work with children are the main instruments in the assessment of the given model.
Key words: Model, practice-oriented teacher training; modernization of pedagogical education; professional standard; educational standards of higher education.
