Activities of the Sverdlovsk Regional Institute of Teachers Training to Improve the Professional Level of Teacher Training in the Post-War Decade

Abstract: The article studies the structure and activities of the Sverdlovsk Regional Institute of Teachers Training (ITT), to improve the training of teaching and managerial staff of public educational system in the Sverdlovsk region in 1945-1955. The information about the human resources and finance is given. The author analyzes the measures undertaken by the Institute to improve the methodological skills and ideological level of teachers, with the help of the themes of lectures, seminars and courses. The interaction of the Institute with the other authorities and institutions of the educational system is studied: public education departments, local methodological associations, teacher training colleges, universities. The information about the number of participants (students) taking part in the training activities in the analyzed period is disclosed. Particular attention is paid to the changes in the activities of the ITT connected with the new socio-political situation in the country after the death of I.V.Stalin, and weakening of the party and ideological dictatorship in education.
