Abstract: The emergence and formation of the scientific team "ICT in Education" at the Ural State Pedagogical University was a natural consequence of the informatization of the mass school, started in 1985. Informatization is not limited to the introduction of a new subject “Fundamentals of informatics and computing”, but also covers other educational disciplines. Activities of the scientific school under the leadership of B.E. Starichenko began with the development of ideas of using information technology in the organization of independent work of students in the disciplines of theoretical physics. Further research group has implemented a number of projects for the general education system. As part of the Laboratory of Information Technologies in Education our group for more than 15 years was doing fundamental research according to research plans of Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation. In 2002 in the USPU was organized the chair of the New Information Technologies in Education and for all specialties pedagogical profile introduced discipline “Information and Communication Technologies in Education”. Some later was open the master's program “ICT in education”. In frame of the scientific school trained and defended candidate and doctoral dissertations 19 specialists. Members of the school carried out scientific cooperation with domestic and foreign universities. At present, by the efforts of our researchers were constructed a conceptual foundations for the use of ICT in the learning process, was created the IT-model of the training in high school. Based on analysis of trends in the development and application of ICT in the world educational practice, were defined the basic directions of activities of the our scientific school for the coming years.
