Abstract: In the article the author refers to the analysis of scientific views on the issue of professional identity as a result of and a prerequisite for the professional development of the individual, the future social teachers able to realize the goals, objectives of its activities, able to plan and determine the causes of failures, to adjust the actions and themselves as the subject of this activity. A summary of the various points of view, about the readiness to professional socio-pedagogical work, the formation of professional identity of future social teacher activities, and reflect the integrity of the educational process. The author identifies the stages of development of professional identity in students: perception and comprehension of existing professional values; the choice of prominent professional values and building on this basis, the professional standard; the design of a personal system of values based on the assigned professional values.
