Substantive Aspects of Readiness for Foreign Language Communication

Abstract: The article deals with the research of the substantive aspects of readiness for foreign language communication. The importance of students’ readiness in the context of modern higher physical education system is shown. Much attention is given to the interdisciplinary analysis of the concepts «readiness» and «communication». The article describes outstanding characteristics of communication and speech activity significant in teaching of foreign languages. The relation between readiness for foreign language communication and communicative competence is shown. On the basis of research the author defines foreign language communication as information exchange between subjects that is realized by means of foreign language. Much attention is given to the choice of communication spheres in which students work in the process of learning foreign languages. The importance of combination such areas as personal, social, professional, educational, business communication, political and scientific discourse is shown through the example of normative documents. Such components of readiness for foreign language communication as motivational, interactive and reflective are emphasized and described on the basis of educational research studies. The key component of readiness is motivational as motivation is an important condition of any activity in particular communication activity. In conclusion the author defines the prospects for using obtained material to optimize the process of teaching foreign languages.
