Abstract: The article describes the main results of the empirical research of formation of conscious motherhood within the framework of axiological approach, and describes characteristic features of awareness of maternity depending on the experience of fulfilling the role of a mother. The article defines the importance of empirical research of conscious motherhood, formulates the aim, scope, object and hypothesis of the research, highlights and marks the main stages of the research, presents the methods and techniques of the research, and gives a characteristic of the studied sample that is divided into subgroups according to the time of experience of motherhood. In the beginning of the article the author outlines the problem of the study, which consists in the loss of value of motherhood in modern society. The article analyzes the stages, factors and components of the development of conscious motherhood and discloses the system of upbringing and development of values related to motherhood. The article also describes an empirical study aimed at identifying the attitude of women to motherhood, to adoption of the role of mother and the value of motherhood for women. The author characterizes two study groups with different time of experience of motherhood, age of the subjects and method of their formation, enumerates the research methods and explains their choice. It presents the results of the undertaken research in quantitative and qualitative terms, as well as the comparison of the two groups. It also defines the problem field for the experimental group, with the aim of developing and testing a program of formation of conscious motherhood. The article presents a description of the program of formation of conscious motherhood stating the aim, tasks, and methods of study, stages and organization of training.
