Abstract: The article stresses the importance of design activity of schoolchildren in technological education. The analysis of sources of scientific literature gives the definition of the term "design" and the ways of design: computerized and manual. Sections and subjects of technology with various ways of design are systematized. It is noted that the teacher of Technology should choose such object, process or topic of the project from those available, so that the pupils were able to try the whole set of technological operations. The article presents the methods of conducting classes with the use of computerized and manual ways of design for pupils and provides examples of such activity. To illustrate this, the author has worked out tasks involving computerized ways of design by means of computer programs. The tasks that pupils do with hand tools and flow charts using manual ways of design of products respectively are also described in the article. The developed methodology of conducting lessons in Technology for schoolchildren with the use of computerized and manual ways of design meets the demands of the Federal State Educational Standard for the subject "Technology" and allows the teacher of Technology to prepare for the teaching process more effectively.
