Abstract: The article describes the USPU Faculty of Economics experience in the activization of involvement of students of non-juridical specialties in scientific-research and project activity of creating projects for alteration of the current Russian legislation. The work undertaken in this field resulted in successful participation of the students in nine All-Russian competitions of students and young people interested in science “My Law-making Initiative” and other competitions of student projects, which both have practical significance for the formation of the necessary student creative competences and are directly addressed to law-makers for the creation of a normative basis of law for effective solution of problematic socio-economic relations in the country. Such success became possible due to the creation of the faculty provisions for course and graduate qualification papers and master’s dissertations. The provisions are based on the elements from the requirements to the content and design of candidate of sciences dissertations. As a necessary condition for preparation of graduate qualification papers and master’s dissertations, the authors included an analysis of normative law acts regulating socio-economic and other relations under study, which make up the object of research. The matter is that the problems of ineffective solution of the majority of socio-economic and other relations in the country are associated with gaps in the current legislation or with inadequately formulated concrete norms of law. That is why the majority of recommendations for the solution of such problems have the character of necessary law amendments. All this explains the fact, why two thirds of the authors of more than 250 projects, which have been submitted to various competitions in the last 10 years, became winners and laureates at the regional and national levels. At that, the absolute majority of them are regular students and, as a rule, leavers of provincial schools. As university alumni, they are successful specialists and patriots of their country.
