Abstract: The article is the result of practical work with beginning singers in a children's art school of the city of Ekaterinburg. The article is addressed to students and teachers, whose work is connected with training the vocal apparatus of a beginning vocalist. The article is based on the author‘s own experience, taking into account the knowledge and experience of outstanding researchers, teachers and singers. It presents a search for form of organization of education process in the conditions of introduction of preservice general developmental programs in children's art school. The article describes an example of a lesson in the optional subject «Training the Voice» of the education programs «Piano», «Folk Instruments» and «Choir Singing». The author suggests a form of the lesson the aim of which is to develop and consolidate technical and artistic skills in the process of training the voice of a beginning singer in the system of additional music education. This method of dividing the lesson into two parts is experimental; today, it is being tested in a children's art school. Special emphasis in the given experiment is laid on the development of skills of artistic performance because they have not been properly studied yet in vocal pedagogy and possess a high potential for training the voice.
