Abstract: Cultivation of value-oriented attitude and love of one‘s native town or village is one of the conditions of primary socialization of a child, based on satisfaction of the principal psychological need of belonging to a certain community. The program ―Facets of the Urals‖, reflecting the specificity of the Urals Region, is a vivid example of a regional program of formation of value-oriented approach to one‘s birthplace. The necessity to train corresponding pedagogical specialists is the indispensible condition of effective implementation of this program. The author argues that one of the factors defining the preparation of a teacher to work in the field of fostering a love of one‘s birthplace is the presence of a psychological tie of the teacher with the place he/she lives in, which is more clearly reflected in the phenomenon of regional identity of a person. On the basis of analysis of home and foreign researches of the given problem, the article describes and analyzes the cognitive, value-oriented, emotional and regulatory components of regional identity of a person. The authors suggest various approaches to the diagnostics of the regional identity of a person, based on the use of psycho-semantic and narrative methods of study. The presented directions of psychological work with teachers may become the foundation for special activity in training pedagogical personnel for the realization of regional educational programs.
