Abstract: The article presents the systematization of scientific knowledge, concepts and views on the problem of unsatisfied needs of adolescents in the context of replacement behavior. The author clarifies the definition of "replacement behavior of adolescents." Recognizing the value of various psychological studies for understanding the theoretical positions of unsatisfied needs of adolescents in the context of replacement behavior, the author shows that systematic obstacles in meeting the needs may contribute to the development of various types of replacement behavior. And some of them can increase the adaptive capacity of a teenager, others considerably lower it. In addition, the undertaken work may expand our understanding of the peculiar features of the replacement behavior of adolescents. The problem described in the article is topical since there is a shortage of knowledge in the field of cooperation between teachers, psychologists and parents with teenagers who have signs of a replacement behavior, the scientific-methods basis for the selection of strategies, actions and behavior of all participants of the education process is far from being perfect.
